Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, has received praise from NFL fans for his direct response when asked about President Donald Trump’s attendance at Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.
After another video of Kansas City Chiefs players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes raving about the 47th president’s attendance at the major game went viral online, the young baller received support.
Football fans are drawing comparisons between Jalen Hurts and Travis Kelce on social media after highlighting the differences between their responses. Following Trump’s previous social media attacks on his girlfriend, pop sensation Taylor Swift, Kelce’s remarks have also drawn criticism from online users.
Hurts responded to a number of questions about the big weekend during the Super Bowl LIX media day, one of which asked him how he felt about Trump going to the game.
According to Hurts, who will be playing in his second Super Bowl on February 9, 2025, “He’s welcome to do what he wants,”.
When asked if he felt any extra pressure knowing that Trump administration officials were traveling to New Orleans to watch him play, the Philadelphia star athlete also remained succinct.
The words “No, ma’am,” he said.
Hurts’ remarks contrasted sharply with those of his rivals, particularly Kelce and Mahomes, who both told reporters how excited they were to play in front of Trump.
“It’s awesome,” said Kelce. It’s a tremendous honor. It’s the biggest game of my life, so I’m excited regardless of the president. It’s the best country in the world, you know, and the president is there. That would be really awesome.
According to Mahomes, it’s “always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president.”
Fans also voiced their opinions about the whole situation after videos of the three football players discussing their feelings about the sitting president going to the most important game of their season circulated online.
Netizens compared the statements in many of the responses, criticizing Kelce for “glazing” at Trump and applauding Hurts for remaining impartial.
“Yuck. One user commented, “I detest Travis Kelce’s response to that Trump query.” “After he humiliated your girlfriend in public? Goodbye. Please don’t hurt me, Jalen.
According to another user, Kelce “should’ve answered like Jalen Hurts.” Kelce was then criticized for demonstrating that “he doesn’t care about how Trump attacked [his girlfriend].”
He’s a narcissist, though. Thus, I’m not shocked,” they concluded.
Swift Was Attacked by Trump After Supporting Kamala Harris
For those who might not know, Swift and President Trump’s feud started with the 2024 presidential election.
The singer of “Cruel Summer” exposed her political affiliation by publicly supporting Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris, after seeing AI-generated photos of her ostensibly supporting Trump online.
Trump later told his social media followers how much he “hates” Swift in a reply to her long Instagram post.
Many were perplexed by his post because the former “Apprentice” star had praised Swift and called her “very talented” before admitting that the two probably held different political views.
“She is gorgeous, in my opinion. Very lovely! She is really lovely, in my opinion. She seems liberal to me. It’s likely that she dislikes me,” Trump remarked.
