President Donald Trump is pushing back against fresh speculation about his health after posting a golf photo that wasn’t as recent as many believed.
Over the weekend, Trump shared an image on his Truth Social account, showing him smiling on the golf course alongside former NFL coach Jon Gruden. “Great playing golf with Jon Gruden – A really nice guy, and true character!” the president wrote.
But eagle-eyed social media users quickly noticed the photo wasn’t taken that day. In fact, the shot was from August 23, not the weekend it was posted. That revelation has fueled chatter online, with critics accusing the White House of trying to downplay concerns about Trump’s physical condition.
Critics Question Timing of Photo
Travis Akers, a retired Navy intelligence officer, took to X to voice his skepticism: “If you’re trying to shut down rumors of a major health scare, maybe post a current photo instead of one from last week.”
Political consultant Fred Wellman went further, writing: “The President of the United States is obviously lying about his activities, and the lack of curiosity by the media is stunning.”
Matt Rein, a Democratic strategist, echoed those concerns: “Is it not bizarre that Trump and the White House are passing off an old photo as new? Why isn’t anyone questioning this?”
Health Concerns Have Been Swirling for Weeks
This controversy comes on the heels of growing rumors about Trump’s health. In recent weeks, images circulated online appearing to show swelling and bruising on the president’s legs. Those concerns spiked in August when Trump was out of the public eye for several days. While he has since been spotted on the golf course, the scrutiny hasn’t gone away.

Speculation intensified after the White House disclosed in July that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition that limits the veins in the legs from effectively sending blood back to the heart. According to his doctor, the condition is “benign and common,” especially in people over 70, and it is not life-threatening.
Dr. Sean Barbabella, Trump’s physician, stated in a memo: “The president underwent a comprehensive exam, including vascular studies. Tests confirmed chronic venous insufficiency, a common issue for individuals his age.”
Trump and Allies Push Back
Vice President JD Vance brushed off the rumors last week, telling USA Today: “The president is in great shape, has incredible energy, and will finish his term strong.”
Trump himself responded with a bold declaration on Truth Social: “NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE.”
Still, at 79, the oldest president ever elected to a second term, questions about Trump’s health are likely to continue—especially when old photos spark new controversies.
